“How can I record my own E.V.P.?”
This is a question that has been asked of us several times. Generally we enter into a discussion where they’ve made attempts but have failed to yield any positive results.
While the general understanding of how EVP occurs and is recorded has some science behind it, the basic recording of it is actually less eventful than most people realize.
A common flaw with today’s audio recorders is that they are “perfect”. You can still find some that aren’t but this is a consensus of the technology. What exactly do we mean by “perfect”? Older recorder technology still embedded a small, sometimes unheard, background noise. This noise is believed to be what made the recording possible as it’s generally accepted that a ghost/spirit must have a noise to carry their words through. This is why you may have heard mechanical type recordings from other teams.
Or perhaps you’ve noticed that EVPs come up while someone is talking or at the end of their sentence? This is the same idea behind behind the lack of a background noise.
If you find that you are having trouble recording EVPs then PPS recommends you use some form of background white noise. As technology has advanced and our older recorders need to be replaced for various reasons we have begun to use this technique and have gotten some pretty amazing results.
