Old White Oak Cemetery in Dallas GA

14853686768060From time to time we get questions and requests regarding Old White Oak Cemetery here in Dallas, Georgia. Sometimes people asking if a local legend is true, sometimes people asking about investigating the location. First let me state, investigate at your own risk. We cannot give you permission to check this place out. We advise against it. Again, investigate at your own risk. That said… here’s what we do know regarding sightings, facts, or what have you for Old White Oak Cemetery.

  1. Figures in black cloaks have been seen. We’ve gotten this report a lot throughout the years. In fact I only thought it myth until during one trip a few years ago I found a black cloak and red candled presumably left behind.
  2. The most reported sighting is that of “Old Jack”. Typically between the two trees in the near-middle of the cemetery (one has the Old White Oak sign on it). He’s also been reported to not be very gentle with women. Even investigators in PPS have said they’ve had their hair pulled, feeling as if they were being shoved, and once someone fell straight to the ground.
  3. Another common subject reported to us is the feeling that “something followed you home”.
  4. It’s one of two “witches graveyards” here in Paulding County. Supposedly there’s a witch buried at Old White Oak. Probably just one of those old urban (rural?) legends but it’s been a thing since before I was even born. She’s said to be buried in the far right corner of the cemetery if you’re facing it from the road.
  5. There are/were roughly 75-100 grave markers but supposedly there are nearly 200 people buried here. We base this number on some paperwork that has been presented to us. If true, where are the others buried?

This is mostly about the most common things related to Old White Oak Cemetery. Like we’ve gotten a couple reports of Civil War era soldiers seen marching on the road but too few to mention. I’m sure I’m missing a few things and if or when they come to mind I’ll add to this list but I wanted to clear a few things up. Some local stories have been brought to our attention that, as far as we know, have never been a part of the mythos surrounding this graveyard. We wanted to put something out there so you know where we stand. Feel free to shout out in the comments and tell us what you’ve experienced here, if anything at all!

The articles published here unless otherwise cited are intended for education and entertainment purposes only. These are stories of lore and personal experiences that PPS has received from others that they feel are with genuine intent. 1. Gee, I visited the cemetery a couple of times during the day time, just because there is just something about old graveyards that interests me. I never knew there were any stories about it being haunted. However, I have said, it looks like it could be. It really is sort of creepy. Been a few years since I saw it, but now that I know it could be haunted, I probadly won’t go back. Or at least I won’t get out of my vehicle.

  2. I have slept in that graveyard so many times when I were younger kid because I was too messed up to make it home I have seen a lot of strange things you can’t explain

  3. It has been said that for many years it has been haunted by several diffrent things and some war soldiers has been seen and you can ever so often hear the horses running or trotting and then the sound of them gets week and goes away, occasionally cigars have been smelled by the elders in that part of the area, its also been said there is a tunnel under ground over by the church somewhere and alot of activity goes on there. I have seen black shadows through the tree lines but never thought anything of it until recently when this story came up before, I just thought I was crazy. I feel like it is their territory, and it is so interesting and makes you really want to know.

  4. I used to grave lurk here a lot. I have some very interesting stories from a few different places in GA.

  5. I have been through there a few times and experienced all of that it is creepy as h*** but still fun me and a few friends went there and took sone pictures there was so many orbs it covered the whole screen

  6. Been there twice and both times the car would not start when we were ready to go… Never went back !

  7. OH see I knew I forgot to mention something and that was it. That’s another common occurrence.

  8. In my younger days we would ride around and smoke weed, white oak was one of our routes and we would stop there and walk around,we never had anything happen but my friend sloppy Bobby found a skull candle and I do believe it was in the area where y’all said the witch was buried and you can’t talk about white oak without bringing up pigman and not myth or legend he was the real deal

  9. Don’t worry, I’m already working on a piece about Pigman, too! Feel free to PM me on the FB page and let us know what you know. I want to see how it compares to the stories I heard as a child.

  10. I want to check this out. Things like this is always cool, regardless if you believe it or not

  11. This place is creepy… me and some friends went and we didn’t see the dark cloaks walking away but we saw the red candles.. and when we went to leave the truck shut off and wouldn’t start for several mins kinda freaked me out.. but i would go back

  12. The trouble with your vehicle is a very VERY common occurrence there and I’m kicking myself for not thinking of it when I wrote this.

  13. I went there as a teenager with my friends a few times and we would always have orbs. In the pictures. Then our car wouldn’t start for a few minutes one time. Also we would go walking in the woods past the graves and would have the worst experiences it would send some people in a frenzy where they feel so scared they wanted to run and cry. Then some other friends would be quiet and almost in a trance. I’m the type of person where I’ve never really had experiences but when I went to the witches graveyard I did everytime.
